GABA Raffle - Big Prizes!!!

New Hwy 4 Banners Will Celebrate Area Attractions

Highway 4

Everybody’s a winner with Arnold’s newest raffle!  There are thousands of dollars in prizes, including a 46” Big Screen TV donated by Fox Security, a Season Pass at Bear Valley and 18 Holes of Golf for Four at Sequoia Woods Country Club.

This is a first-ever raffle by the Greater Arnold Business Association.  What makes everyone a winner is that twenty percent of proceeds will be donated to the Resource Connection Food Bank, which provides food and safety net services in our community.  In just the first half of 2011, The Resource Connection has served over 3,100 of our less fortunate Calaveras neighbors.  Buying a raffle ticket will automatically help this worthy cause.

The balance of raffle ticket proceeds will be applied to a new fund for beautification projects in the greater Arnold area.  First up will be a series of large roadside banners promoting some of the things that attract visitors to Arnold.  Lining Highway 4, these colorful banners will feature images of the widely-recognized Ebbetts Pass National Scenic Byway posters.

Tickets can be purchased at a number of local businesses, including Barry Ward Realty, The Rusty Knife, Dorrington Realty, Century 21 Sierra Properties Realty and the Post Office in Avery.

When you buy a raffle ticket, you help your community and yourself.

GABA Gift Basket

Gift Baskets

GABA Members - we need your help. Read on...

As part of our welcome to new businesses into the area The Greater Arnold Business Association, on behalf of its members, offers a gift basket. In this basket we’ve included gifts from members in the form of certificates for services or items representing their businesses.

This is a request for donations of those types of items.

This is an excellent way to get your name in front of newcomers and an excellent way to network in the area.

The gift items need not be of tremendous value, simply an expression of welcome and cooperation of the business community.

If you would like to donate or have any questions please contact Maureen at Above and Beyond Travel. Her email is aboveandbeyondtravelagency@comcast.net

Thank You!!

Spotlight on Business

Fine Things

The Wellness CenterFor 13 years, Nicole Cockshott and Gail Szukalski of Fine Things, in Cedar Center have dispelled the adage that “best friends shouldn’t be in business together”.  The women say that the success of their business is attributed to not letting their egos get in the way of running this pleasurable store.  They are focused on happiness, feeling good and making money, of course.  “Inspired by the Eclectic”, they offer decorator pieces, frames, cards, candles, unique lines of jewelry and so much more.  Always looking for upgrades and one-of-a-kind pieces, Fine Things now carries a small line of women’s apparel meant for the shopper looking to add to her wardrobe in the way of a scarf, hat, blouse or little dress.  Fine THingsPrice is a sensitive issue and Gail and Nicole make every effort to offer a full range of value.  They go to shows in the Bay Area during the year looking for items they know their clientele will appreciate and have favorite lines that satisfy their current needs.

Remember that Fine Things might just have what you need, want or can’t resist.

Fine Things, 1276 Oak Circle in Cedar Center at 795-1811 is open Wednesday – Saturday from 10 am to 5pm and Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm.

Our Mission

The Greater Arnold Business Association is a non-profit association of businesses in the greater Arnold area, working together for the betterment of the business community, its residents and vistors.

Welcome to Arnold
Highway Four Sign

The Greater Arnold area stretches approximately 47 miles along a section of California Scenic Highway 4 in the Central Sierra from Murphys over Ebbetts Pass. It includes the communities of Forest Meadows, Hathaway Pines, Avery, Arnold, Dorrington, Camp Connell, Bear Valley and Lake Alpine. General membership meetings are held bimonthly at various locations.

With Lake Tahoe to the north and Yosemite National Park to the south, the town of Arnold boasts a truly central location in the Sierra. At the 4,000 foot elevation, you have the unique opportunity to pursue a wide and varied roster of activities year round. You can, literally, golf in the morning and ski all afternoon, and with excellent highway access. In addition to the attributes of mild climate and year-round recreation, Arnold is also the perfect place for an inexpensive family vacation and is just a three hour drive from the Bay Area. Lodging options include Bed and Breakfast Inns, reasonably priced and comfortable motels and year-round vacation cabin rentals, especially popular with families.

Lake Scene at Sunset

Arnold serves as a gateway to the Calaveras Big Trees State Park, Stanislaus National Forest, Bear Valley winter and summer recreation areas and the spectacular wilderness areas beyond. Visitors find the relaxed pace, clean mountain air, starry nights and friendliness of the townsfolk make Arnold an excellent “home base”. Many a visitor has turned resident after a few vacations here.

Most businesses are family owned, so you get the personal service not often found elsewhere. The available goods and services delightfully surpass expectation.

The town of Arnold is also host to many one-of-a-kind events such as the Sierra Nevada Logging Jamboree, the Arnold Independence Day Parade, seasonal crafts fairs and significant sporting events (see calendar of special events).
